  • My work has always represented the land as ‘Mother Earth’, a living entity, to create empathy, and help the viewer reflect on the ‘hidden’ and ’surface’, aspects of our perceptions about what we see, understand and experience around us.

Werner and I have several of our art works in The Cunningham Dax Collection and this new exhibition brings together a selection of artworks made by people who experienced the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009.  The exhibition captures the destruction of the fires and the emotional aftermath, with a focus on the impact of trauma.

These artworks embody the physical and mental survival of the artists, which has been itimately connect to the changing landscape and the rebuilding of their lives and communities.  The exhibition features a number of professional artists working across a range of media.  Artists apart from Werner and Ursula Theinert are Julie Goodwin, Cornelia Selover, Louise Foletta, Bernadette Healy and Kate Zizys coupled with works created by primary school students from Yarra Glen Primary School.

It will be an exciting exhibition and worth a visit!
